Online Production FAQ’s

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) and tips to help you get the best experience from our online production.

  • Which device can I use?

We recommend that you use a computer or laptop. Tablets and phones can be used, but will differ in the options that zoom offers and might slightly hinder the viewing experience.

You can also try and connect your device to a tv, using one of the following options:

    1. Play the content on your phone/tablet Using an app to ‘mirror’ or ‘cast’ it onto your smart TV
    2. Watch using the web browser on your smart TV: Open the web browser on your TV, then type in the URL link that we will provide to the video in full
    3. Connecting your laptop or mobile device to your TV using an HDMI cable, using ‘Source’ on your TV remote to find your device and display the content on your TV

  • How do I access the meeting?

You will receive an email with a link approximately one hour before the performance with a web link, meeting ID and passcode that takes you directly to our zoom meeting. If you have not received the email, please check your spam/junk folder or email contact@st-georges-players.org.uk or text 07791074812

  • I have not received an e-mail?

The e-mail will be from contact@st-georges-players.org.uk. Please check your spam or junk folder and if you still can’t find it, please contact us at contact@st-georges-players.org.uk or text 07791074812.

  • Do I have to download zoom?

If you don’t already have zoom on your device, you can download for free at https://zoom.us/download

  • What if I drop out during the performance?

You can re-join the performance by clicking on the link or typing in the meeting ID and password.

  • Can I rewind if I missed a bit?

    No, the performance is live.

  • What if I arrive late, after the show started?

You should still be able to join, but as the performance is live you will miss out on the beginning.

  • Where do I find Gallery view?

Gallery view will give you the best viewing experience. Depending on your device, it is either on the top right corner of the zoom window, or at the bottom, where it says ‘view’ it gives you the option between speaker view and gallery view, choose gallery view.  This feature may not be available on some tablets or mobile phones, however with the way the play is staged, speaker view will suffice.

  • How can I hide ‘non-video participants’?

To ensure you only see the actors and not the audience you should hide or turn off non-video participants. The easiest way is to go to your video settings after you have joined the meeting.  The video settings are normally accessed by clicking on the arrow next to the camera symbol. You can do this prior to joining the meeting if you would rather in the settings menu.

You can also find the option either by right clicking the box of someone whose video is off or by clicking on the three dots on the non-video participants screen.

On Windows devices you will have the option to tick the box next to “Hide non-video participants”. On IOS devices, you have the option to switch off “Show non-video participants”.

  • I missed the show can I get a refund?

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds for this performance.

  • I can’t hear anything what do I do?

Make sure your sound is turned on and that you have selected to join with Audio (if you haven’t this should be an option to the bottom left of your screen)

It’s worth remembering that the download speed you have from your internet service provider, overall internet speed and Wi-Fi performance as well as your devices performance can affect your experience.

Our online events can be watched from outside the UK but please note the live stream broadcast time is quoted in GMT.

Please keep your video and microphone switched off during the performance.  You may turn them on at the end to show your appreciation.
