Meet our committee of volunteers working behind the scenes – and sometimes on the stage themselves – to keep St George’s Players going. Here’s a brief introduction to their role at SGP and their history with the group.
Mark Harrington – Chair
Having experience of performing in both TV and stage productions since his teens, and making his West End debut in 2002, Mark joined SGP in 2019 for our production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. He’s since starred in several productions, made his directorial debut with Death By Design in 2022, and became the group Chair in 2021; a long legacy that he is very proud to be a part of.
Ben Sutherland – Vice Chair
Ben has been with St George’s since 2013 and became Vice Chair in 2022. He has directed two productions – 12 Incompetent Jurors and Murder On The Nile, with Tara Frost – and appeared in leading roles in Dinner, And Then There Were None and Death By Design. He is currently studying for an MA in screenwriting and his ultimate ambition is for SGP to stage something he has written himself.
Tara Frost – Secretary and social secretary
Tara joined SGP in Spring 2022, playing the part of Victoria Van Roth in our production of Death by Design. She took on her first role as Assistant Producer in the autumn production of Dracula the same year and then kicked off 2023 by co-directing Murder on the Nile whilst playing the part of Jacqueline de Severac.
A project manager by trade, Tara enjoys taking on the directing/ producing roles as much as she does the acting. Tara joined the committee as secretary/social secretary at the end of 2022.
Fifi Batchelor – Props Manager
Fifi joined SGP for their Autumn 2022 production of Dracula playing Miss Wells, and after showing an interest in props, was officially sworn in as a committee member in the role of Props Manager the same year. Fifi leaned fully into the role as well as managing backstage with the Spring 2023 production of Murder on the Nile. Outside of the Players, Fifi educates and entertains children in schools with exotic animal displays.
Marina Nenadic – Website Manager
Marina is the most recent addition to our committee, joining in 2023 after performing in our sell-out production of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Nile. Marina looks after our website and email newsletter.
Rob Smith – Writing Group
Rob joined St George’s Players as a member of the ensemble cast for ‘Oh! What a Lovely War!’ in 2016. He’s been in various productions since then and is returning to the writing group after a couple of years sabbatical. The writing group host regular meetings and has an annual scratch night in the summer.
Ian Cooper – Set designer / Honorary Lifetime Member
Paul Buckenham – Treasurer
