A note from our new Chairman

Welcome to The St George’s Players! Following lockdown restrictions, we will be looking forward to performing, socialising and welcoming you once again.

We have always aimed to produce two main plays a year, with other performances in between, and during lockdown we even developed our skills by producing an online play, “Homework”, across two nights.

In addition to ‘live’ productions, we will be continuing with online/in person play readings, the writing group, and social events, because the St George’s Players are not just about acting, but making friends and being part of a ‘community’ too.

Originally formed in 1934, we celebrated our 85th Diamond anniversary in 2019, and our outgoing Chair, Stephen Gaskell, has done a brilliant job of leading the Players forward over the past 7 years, and I’m proud to say that we are stronger than ever!

Now, from July 2021, I will be taking over the reins from Stephen, and I look forward to welcoming you to the Players as we continue to entertain, socialise and most importantly, have fun!

Having joined the Players in 2019, I was amazed by the back catalogue of great performances that we have produced, and I was instantly made to feel at home, welcomed and part of the team; an ethos that we endeavour to offer to everyone.

There are no membership fees and EVERYONE IS WELCOME, so subscribe to our social media channels (Facebook / Twitter / Instagram) and keep an eye out for what’s in store! We look forward to welcoming you all into our creative community in the heart of South-East London!
