Thursday 12th June - reading of Dangerous Corner
Tuesday 17th June - First audition for chosen play
Tuesday 24th June - Second audition for chosen play

All readings and auditions will commence at 8.00pm and end at 10.00pm

NB: Although it is not compulsory for you to attend the readings before the auditions we do recommend that you try and do so, as you will be in a better position having gained some idea of the play and characters. However, If you are unable to come to the readings then we look forward to seeing you at the auditions. For the auditions, you don't need to prepare any monologues as it will just involve a sight reading whereby the director will select you to read an extract from the play. You will then be given the opportunity to read for the character/s that you are interested in.

We look forward to seeing you at St George's Church, Vancouver Road, Forest Hill, London, SE23.

First rehearsal 8th or 15th July - TBC after casting.

REBECCA by Daphne Du Maurier

"Rebecca" is a story of mystery and passion, a dark psychological tale of secrets and betrayal. The action takes place in Cornwall at Manderley, the De Winter estate, which is filled with memories of the elegant and flamboyant Rebecca DeWinter who has died in a sailing accident the year before. The story begins with Maxim De Winter returning to Manderley with his new wife, the rather timid and shy 'second Mrs De Winter.'

Very soon she is treated with sullen hostility by Rebecca's devoted maid and housekeeper, the malaevolent and obsessive Mrs Danvers, who convinces her that Maxim is still in love his dead wife, along with all the other inhabitants at Manderley, and that she would be better off dead, as she will never be loved as much as Rebecca was. The behaviour of the other characters, including Maxim, in not wishing to be reminded of Rebecca bear this out, until the secrets and lies that have been buried for a year begin to 'resurface'...

FUTURE WORKSHOPS

We offer workshops to new members and/or people who would like to act, but have never done so before and want to gain more confidence. It was suggested this could take place one night a week (Tuesdays). It is not necessarily with a view to putting on a production at the finish, but more as a proper workshop to learn tips on stage acting. We are looking for volunteers who could perhaps offer their own acting experience to others and it would be on a kind of rota basis – i.e. somebody take the workshop for say, 2/3 weeks and then another person would take over for a few weeks etc. Its an interesting addition to the St G’s agenda. There would be a £2 weekly charge for anyone taking part.
